A Letter from Our Founder
Dear Colleagues and Friends,
Before founding CMAC in 2019, I spent the early part of my career coaching collegiate swimming at Lehigh University in Pennsylvania. Those years taught me that real progress comes from giving honest feedback, defining a clear strategy, and having a belief in potential long before it is fully realized.
Later, as an alumni leader at both Lehigh and Cornell University, I experienced firsthand how these principles can also shape the power of advancement when it’s closely aligned with an institution’s core values. I also saw how much is lost when strategy drifts from mission. Success, I learned, is not about copying best practices; it is about building solutions that reflect the unique culture and ambition of each institution.
When I launched CMAC, I wanted to create a different kind of consulting partner – one built on strategic truth-telling and a commitment to lasting transformation. Today, that vision has grown into a team of strategists, analysts, and former advancement leaders who bring a wide range of experience to every engagement. Together, we help institutions like yours meet this pivotal moment with renewed confidence.
Higher education stands at a crossroads. The old playbook no longer fits the future we face. Institutions need partners who challenge assumptions, elevate conversations, and unlock new possibilities. That is the kind of work we were built to do – and the kind of partnership our growing team is proud to deliver to you.
If you are ready to think bigger, align your advancement efforts more deeply with your mission, and build a stronger future, we would be honored to work alongside you.
Warmly,
Chris Marshall
